Wall Lighting with Your Style in Mind

It has come to my attention that many of my readers have very little information when it comes to wall lighting. I get contacted all the time by my friends in cyberspace who would like to have a general idea of what is available to them in the form of wall lighting. Some of them go as far as to tell me what room they intend to install wall lights and include the theme or style of room decor, so I am able to suggest the wall lighting best to fill their needs.

This is what gave me the idea to write this information on wall lighting. I’m hoping this information will reach those of you who are eager to learn more on this subject and take advantage of what is available to you in the world of wall lighting fixtures.

I’m going to start out by giving you a list of suggested rooms and walls that are quite appropriate to accommodate wall lighting. Although this is a comprehensive list, you may be able to come up with other walls in which to install wall lighting.

You may want to consider installing wall lighting fixtures on walls in the following: Bathroom, Bedroom, Breakfast Room, Closet, Den, Dining Room, Entry/Foyer, Exterior, Family Room, Garage, Hall, Kitchen, Living Room, Mudroom, Office, Patio, Porch, Study and Walkway.

Now, switching over to the styles available to you, you will see that the variety is abundant. This is by no means all that there is available in wall lighting styles, but this will give you a good idea of what you have to choose from. Also, the information I will provide to you will include indoor and outdoor wall lighting fixtures.

Getting back to the styles of wall lighting available to you, you have American, Art Deco, Arts & Crafts/Mission, Asian, Casual, Classic, Classical, Contemporary, Country, Crystal, Eclectic, European, Industrial, Iron & Rustic, Modern, Neoclassical, Oriental, Period/Decor Specific, Retro, Safari, Tiffany, Traditional, Transitional and Tropical, just to name quite a few of these wall lighting works of art.

After you have decided on the particular style that will match the overall decor of the place you wish to install wall lighting, you will want to consider how many lights each fixture will support. You can start at one light per fixture and work your way up from there.

At this point you will want to explore the finish/color of the wall lighting fixture your are searching for. Here too, keep in mind that the finish you end up with will have a lot to do with theme of the room.

Although there are many finishes and colors to choose from, I will list the most popular. These wall lighting fixtures are available in Black, Brass, Bronze, Brown, Chrome, Copper, Gold, Iron, Nickel, Pewter, Rust, Satin, White and Wood. Keep in mind that with paint, you can change the color of any of these wall lighting fixtures to a custom color of your choosing.

One more topic to consider when searching for wall lighting is the type of bulb your lighting fixture will accommodate. If you are trying to go “green” to conserve on energy and save on your electric utility bill, then try to go with wall lighting fixtures that use florescent, compact florescent lighting (CFL Bulbs) or LED lighting if available in the wall lighting fixture you are looking for.

The wall lighting fixture you choose can make the difference between just lighting the way and making a brilliant decorative statement. With the vast variety of these beautiful fixtures available to you, there is all the reason why you can brighten up your walls with a fashionable illuminating statement.
