It Came To Me On a Personalized Plaque

Your Life Can Change in a FlashPersonalized Plaque It all started out as a normal new year. It was the same old day in, day out routine. It didn't seem like much in my life was going to change in the new year. I was pretty much settled in for another year of working for my family. Helping my children any way I could to make another school year as successful as the last. Everything seemed to be going along very smoothly this year. No major incidents to resolve. There seemed to be plenty of time to get things done without any form of anxiety. The normal stress of my job and life in general was, to say the least, normal. It wasn't until the end of the month of March when things got a little upsetting. I was going to my family doctor for my yearly physical exam when I was diagnosed with some lumps on my colon. This truly upset me because there was no way to tell if this was cancer or not without a biopsy. For the first time in my life I felt absolutely helpless. All I could do was schedule an appointment for the biopsy and in the interim only hope for the best. A few days later I was at the local hospital having the biopsy done on the lumps on my colon. They said that the results of my biopsy would be available within two days. I was a nervous wreck. Time seemed to stand still while I was waiting for my results. On the second day around ten o'clock in the morning I got a call from my doctor. I was ready for the worst, but anxious to hear good news. A sigh of relief flowed through my body when the doctor told me that the biopsy results showed that the lumps were benign. All I could think of was all the people in the world who were in the same situation as me. There must be something I could do to help people who are actually diagnosed with cancer. And then a thought came to me. I called the office of the mayor of my town and asked to see if I could organize a bicycle ride for the cancer research fund. Personalized Plaque It took two months to organize a bicycle ride for cancer research, but in July of that year the Bicycle Ride for Cancer Research was held on a beautiful Saturday morning and was the biggest cancer research fund raiser the town had ever organized. The mayor and the Town Council were so pleased by the results of my organizing this fund raiser. They actually presented me with a personalized plaque for Outstanding Achievement in Organizing a Fundraiser just a few days after the fundraiser. I was surprised and honored by being presented a personalized plaque from the office of the mayor. I proudly hang this plaque on the wall of my living room. I can only hope that some day soon we will have a cure... With warm regards, Joe Tobiasz
