The Inside Story of Paint

There are several types of interior wall paints and they typically fall into two broad categories water based and oil based. The body of paint may be latex, oil, polyurethane, varnish, lacquer or specialty paint. Interior Wall Paint

Paint is used to protect, preserve, decorate and add functionality to an object or surface by covering it with a pigmented coating. Paint is made up of a pigment or binder to hold it together and with the use of appropriate thinners makes it easy to apply.

Experience is Always the Best Teacher

There are numerous colors, textures, finishes to choose from. When I decided to paint my kitchen the first thing I did was go to my home decorating store and ask for advice. What I learned was essential for my end result.

I had to first take an overall look at the appearance of my walls and woodwork in the kitchen where I wanted to paint. Next I looked at the shades, tones, and hues in the room next to it. I also took into consideration the cabinets and furniture that were situated in the kitchen.Interior Wall Paint

Test It on Your Wall Before You Decide

It came down to wanting a perfect match to the antiquity look of my furnishings. Since I needed a truly unique color, my home center offered custom color mixing. They were able to mix a small amount for me and I dabbled a bit on the wall to see if it exceeded my expectations. After it dried it seemed to blend perfectly with the rest of the surroundings.

I measured what I needed and went back the next day and purchased the custom paint. This interior wall paint had a latex base with a semi-gloss finish. I was informed that this finish was best for its durability and would be easy to clean and maintain.

Rome Wasn't Built in a Day

My advice to you is to start small and work your way up until you feel like a professional. At the end of your project you should be pleasantly surprised how your new painted walls harmonize with the rest of your room. I have provided you links to help you become a Picasso.
