Far Out Hippie Tapestry You Got There, Man
This is Gonna be Groovy. I'm Hip! Hippie Tapestry Hey man, can you dig this? It's 1967, the summer of love. You copped some tickets for Joplin, Jimmy, The Doors and Vanilla Fudge. You're trippin' on the thought of seeing these bands all in one place, outdoors on a farm in Georgia. The two day festival is called the Georgia Love Fest. You're packing a duffle bag with three days of t-shirts and blue jeans. You got three of your friends goin' along with. Two of them are chicks and one dude. You gassed up the VW Bus and you're ready for a road trip. By the time the festival is over, you met a lot of cool heads from around the country. You and your old lady had fun dancing and carrying on to those great bands. Yeah, these were some groovy times. Many years have gone by and now it's the present time. Your friends who once thought they were revolutionary and wanted to change the world, are now holding jobs in corporate America. They have raised their children and have seen their grandchildren come into this world. The only representation of the of the times, when love and peace seemed to be the only important issue, in a world of unfair and discriminating policy, is the hippie tapestry you have hanging on the wall in your basement. Every time you look at that hippie tapestry, you are reminded of your youth and the unknown future ahead of you. Those were uncertain times. Those were times when changes needed to be made. Those were times when the voices of visionaries tried to make a difference without fear. A moment in history that may never repeat itself. That tapestry in your basement holds memories that can only be heart felt by you and the people of that period in time... With warm regards,
