Decorative Wall Paneling Championship

What a glorious day! Not a cloud in the sky and the temperature is a perfect 76 degrees.

There are, at last count, over one million fans out here at Decor Commons Stadium. They are here to see the best of the best compete for the granddaddy of them all. I'm talking about the one and only Decorative Wall Paneling Tournament of Champions Cup.

This is the top of the mountain when it comes to trophies. This is the highest honor any decorative panel can achieve.

As I promised you earlier, let me now take you back over the last five years and show you past winners of this prestigious award.

Five years ago it was a young contender who at the time was considered a long shot at best. Being an underdog didn't bother this world champion to be. She worked hard and would not listen to the media because deep down inside she knew she had what it takes. Fans today still remember that day. We're talking about Bayside BeadBoard, a legend in her own time.

It was four years ago that a tractor/trailer truck accident almost took the life of the winner. She was on her way to Decor Commons Stadium to set up her wall two days before the championship. While driving through Georgia, her truck was cut off by a speeding SUV and had to swerve away causing her driver to drive off the highway into the ditch. Fortunately her truck stayed upright and managed to stop before serious damage was done. She didn't suffer as much as a scratch. We're talking about none other than Winterhaven II. What a beautiful wall paneling job she did that day and still looks good today.

Three years ago we had an extremely close competition. It went down to the wire or in this competition it went down to the panel. They had their backs against the wall and they were competing tooth and nail and tong and groove all the way to the end. The final decision came down to the judging panel. After what seemed like an eternity, they had their winner. We all remember PT Swirl in grey marble. She was stunning. She was decorative wall paneling at her best.

Remembering back two years ago, the championship was almost cancelled. That was the year of the tornado that did a lot of damage to Decor Commons Stadium. It was six weeks before the competition. Nobody saw it coming on that Tuesday morning. A tornado yielding 120 mile an hour winds touched down a half a mile from the stadium. Part of the roof was damaged. Some of the stadium seating was tossed around. Luckily nobody was injured. It took a large repair crew 15 hours a day for those six week to finish the repairs, so that the Decorative Wall Paneling Tournament of Champions Cup could go on. The winner two years ago was Silverado Brushed Stainless Tile. This was the first year metallic decorative wall paneling was introduced to the competition. She took the cup by a landslide.

Last year was more traditional. Everyone knew that the judges were looking for wood to finish first. So nobody in the competition seemed to want to go against the grain. Every competitor was ready to show how they wood finish first (Kinda a play on words, humor me). After weeks of preparing for the competition, it was finally competition day. At the end of the day, Fireside Cherry took the cup. A beautiful and talented wood grained 4 x 8 piece of decorative wall paneling.
